Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO) II Practice Exam

Breaking down larger Product Backlog items into smaller, actionable items is central to backlog management. By decomposing epics into smaller user stories, you create work that is clear, estimable, and actionable within a sprint. This refinement process also reveals dependencies and acceptance criteria, making prioritization more accurate and the team’s commitments more reliable. The other activities—developing marketing strategy, creating detailed financial forecasts, and writing production code—fall outside backlog management: they belong to market planning, business planning, and development work, respectively. So the best fit is breaking down larger backlog items into smaller items, which keeps the backlog organized, understandable, and ready for sprint planning.
